Last year we focused on ensuring our employees and our clients’ businesses were safe, healthy, and productive. Through investment in both our platform and our talent, we realized impressive growth, scale, and support for our global client roster. Collaborative, compassionate leadership

During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which created uncertainty and physical separation from “business as usual,” Piano CEO Trevor Kaufman rose to the occasion, connecting one-on-one with each of Piano's 350 global employees. It’s a testament to the culture Trevor has fostered, which has led to high employee retention rates and a 300% growth rate over 18 months. For these reasons, and many more, we were grateful when Trevor was honored with both the "Martech Hero” in The Drum 2020 B2B Awards and "Best MarTech Company CEO" from MarTech Breakthrough. Piano also netted awards from the Business Intelligence Group for Product of the Year, Red Herring for Top 100 North America innovative tech company, the World Economic Forum for Technology Pioneer, and a Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ ranking for the second year in a row.

Trevor also added to his leadership bench adtech/martech leader Ashley Deibert as CMO and Dentsu Aegis Network and Google veteran Joanna Catalano as Chief Growth Officer.

Stronger tech and talent

We made a number of updates to our platform and products in 2020 that help clients analyze, optimize, and personalize their customer interactions to better drive engagement, conversion, and retention.

Frictionless Payments

Piano introduced frictionless payments in order to eliminate the barriers for gaining subscribers and building new revenue avenues for publishers. Using Apple Pay's biometrically verified payments within the browser, Frictionless provides visitors with one-touch or one-glance access to paid content, without requiring account creation. Client results have shown a 6x speed increase in time to checkout and an almost ~400% increase in mobile conversion compared to default checkout.

Passwordless Payments

Usable with any integrated payment provider, as long as Piano ID is used, audiences can purchase subscriptions without having to enter a password, further reducing the barrier to entry.

Campaign Reporting

We upgraded our campaign reporting, including adding “Audience Insights” to analyze all campaign data of the selected campaign in one view, as well as campaign reporting segment images to upload images for bespoke or predefined IAB segments.

Site Licensing

Team members can now create a site license on behalf of a client via the Piano dashboard or API to accelerate onboarding access for teams, reduce the friction of manual updates, efficiently manage user rights at the administrative level, and more.
